We get asked this all the time: can I rock my plugs in the shower?
Honestly, it’s better, healthier, and safer to hit the shower without the plugs in your stretched ears.
Our materials may not take well to water or soap from the shower and may eventually deteriorate. They will absorb water and when they dry, it can lead to cracks or tears.
**Hot water and shampoos can ruin the paint on painted plugs.**
That’s why we always suggest taking care of your plugs with a natural oil like jojoba oil. Keep those plugs dry, folks.
Showers: your stretched ears’ best friend
This might seem like a no-brainer, but if you’re here reading this, a little reminder won’t hurt. When you hit the shower, make sure to remove your plugs to clean your stretched ears and your bling.
Over time, your stretched ears and jewelry can build up bacteria. If you don’t get rid of this, it might lead to an infection. After showering, massaging your stretched ears is a great way to break down scar tissue.
We suggest massaging jojoba oil into your ears to help fight off bacteria and keep your ears in top shape. Post-shower’s also a good time to clean your plugs. If you need more tips on cleaning plugs, you’ll find an article in our general section.
